John van Kooy is a researcher, policy analyst and evaluation practitioner with 15 years of experience in community-based research, evaluation and program development across Australia, South Asia and East Africa. He has led multiple research projects that have contributed to Australia’s national conversation about migration, multiculturalism and diversity—including migrant resettlement opportunities in regional Australia, policy settings for temporary visa holders, and economic security for refugees and people seeking asylum.
Part of John’s role, as Senior Research Analyst, is to lead the Welcoming Cities Accreditation process, reviewing evidence of active policies and programs and supporting Network members to foster social cohesion and inclusive economic participation in their communities.
