Julie has over 25-years’ experience delivering capacity building programs in the Local Government sector. As a strong advocate for advancing social justice, she is committed to facilitating partnerships that connect key services and stakeholders to provide joined up approaches that facilitate community lead solutions.
Currently Julie leads the Hume City Council Community Capacity Building unit which develops and implements a range of strategic initiatives tied to Council’s Social Justice Charter. These activities support a culturally vibrant and connected Hume community working closely with First Nations and Multiculturally diverse community groups.
Supporting Hume’s multicultural community during COVID-19 included the development of the Community Health Champions program. The program was established to improve health outcomes, communication pathways, increase testing and vaccination uptake. The program built the capacity of the 23 multicultural community leaders to highlight positive health messaging through a range of media, creating a trusted pathway for 2-way communications with the community and service providers regarding COVID-19 conditions and health supports available in Hume City
