Lucy Santisteban Avella is a Colombian‑Australian community advocate, remedial therapist, and multicultural communicator whose work bridges wellbeing, culture, and social connection. Trained as a physiotherapist in Colombia and now based in South Australia, she combines her clinical background with a deep commitment to supporting migrant and multicultural communities.
Lucy is a presenter of the radio show “Nuestra voces’ sponsored by the Hispanic Women’s Association of South Australia, with experience as MC to multicultural events in South Australia she amplifies the voices of Spanish‑speaking women, shares vital community information, and creates a platform for empowerment, cultural identity, and social inclusion.
Her advocacy extends beyond broadcasting. Lucy has voluntarily worked since 2019 leading WhatsApp channels welcoming Latin American arrivals including international students and refugees. Since 2021 Lucy joined Mariposa trails an organisation that focuses on changing the narratives towards mental health and suicide prevention within CALD communities. She is an active participant in multicultural events, women’s leadership initiatives, and community storytelling programs that celebrate resilience, migration journeys, and cross‑cultural understanding. She is known for her warm presence, her ability to connect across cultures, and her belief that community wellbeing is strengthened when people feel seen, heard, and supported.
In both her therapeutic practice and her community engagement, Lucy champions a holistic vision of care — one that honours culture, fosters belonging, and uplifts diverse voices across South Australia.
