Chris Steel has been the Minister for Multicultural Affairs in the ACT Government since August 2018 and is dedicated to maintaining Canberra as an inclusive, progressive and connected city.
The ACT Government is committed to inclusion and multiculturalism and became a member of the Welcoming Cities network on Harmony Day in 2019.
As a Welcoming City, Minister Steel believes Canberra can make a strong statement that migrants and members of the multicultural community are welcome.
As some communities across Australia grapple with the complexity of building cohesion, Minister Steel is eager to see the ACT Government work closely with other cities and towns across the country to continue to promote multiculturalism and inclusion.
