Born and raised in Broadmeadows to migrant Indian parents, Sharin Milner understands firsthand the power of sport to create belonging and opportunity. After 11 years as a professional basketballer in the WNBL, she built a career designing and leading prevention and social impact programs across government and community sectors, always focused on inclusion and equity.
Returning to her hometown years later, Sharin founded the Phoenix Basketball Club to create pathways for local families – many of whom were underrepresented in sport and facing complex, intersecting social, cultural and financial barriers to participation.
With postgraduate qualifications in social impact, health promotion and business management, Sharin continues to use sport as a vehicle to help people overcome barriers, reshape systems, and feel genuinely included in the sporting community.
