Weihong Liang

Weihong Liang is a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Sydney. He is the International Student Officer for the Council of Australian Postgraduate Associations and the founding Chair of the New South Wales International Student Representative Committee.

He has contributed to key advocacy efforts for international students, including a statewide petition for public transport concessions in New South Wales and the collective campaign that led to the extension of the age limit for the 485 visa for Higher Degree by Research graduates. Weihong is currently coordinating a national effort with student leaders across Australia to establish a new, democratic peak body representing all international students.

At the University of Sydney, he previously served as President of the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association and is now the Postgraduate Senate Fellow. Prior to his studies in Australia, he worked as a Human Resources Officer at ShanghaiTech University in China.
